I did a lot of analysis because it's an important decision and decided for Buttondown at the end (after initially thinking Beehiv is the way). If you are interested I can give you a referral code.
Several reasons, but the most important one: if I want to take newsletters seriously, I need better tools. Substack has its advantages, but for my type of content it isnt the best place.
I don't get email when you publish. I get a notification via the substack app. Do I need to take any action to keep "subscribed" ?
